ORGANISATION DETAILS
Pobail le Ch?ile (PLC) is a community development organisation based
in Falcarragh that aims to increase social inclusion, community-led
and community based programmes to support children and families,
health & wellbeing, social prescribing, youth work, positive ageing
and men's health and social programmes.
Solas Donegal is a Green Exercise Programme that aims to support
mental health Recovery. Solas is based on an eco-therapy model with
the objective of ?walking, talking and listening?, and developing
positive supportive relationships. The programme facilitates group
walks in green spaces and to introduce the practice of mindfulness.
Individual and group sessions support each participant?s recovery
plan.
Solas delivers its service through a co-production approach as much as
possible, with staff and participants working in partnership. Solas
aspires to place the needs and energies of service users at the heart
of the programme and to value the expertise of lived experience.
POST DETAILS
The Peer Support worker will be a full and integral member of the
Solas Donegal team, providing formalised peer support and practical
assistance to programme participants in helping them to regain control
over their lives and their own unique recovery journey.
The Peer Support Worker will use their expertise, gained through lived
experience, to inspire hope and recovery as per the National Framework
for Recovery: Mental Health. They will facilitate and support
information sharing to promote choice, self-determination and
opportunities for connection with local communities and may link with
other developments in the wider community
The post holder will be responsible to PLC, support and supervision
will be provided by Solas Donegal. Monthly reports will be reviewed
regarding the Grant Aided Agreement funded post.
CANDIDATES MUST HAVE BY THE CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS
FOR THIS POST:
* PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE ETC.
(a) Personal experience of mental health difficulties or in caring for
someone with mental health difficulties and an insight into the
recovery process
AND
(b) Hold a qualification in Mental Health, Social Care or related
field.
AND
(c) Experience of working with people with mental health needs in a
supportive capacity.
POST SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience working with individuals
with mental health needs as relevant to the role.
Demonstrate experience in the implementation of self-care frameworks
and approaches in the context of mental health recovery, as relevant
to the role.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Access to appropriate personal transport and full clean drivers
licence
All staff are required to obtain Garda clearance as a condition of
their initial and continued employment.
